Welcome to Dave on the Rocks
Let’s get this party started.
Since I joined the 50+ club I’ve noticed, and experienced, the bias our demographic faces every day by society, culture, entertainment, marketing, government, the workplace, corporate America, you name it.
From my perch, ageism is the last bastion of socially accepted prejudice, and I’m determined to flip the script — and do it with a healthy dose of revelry.
Like AARP, with a rebellious streak.
Don’t get me wrong, AARP’s a fine organization. Give credit where credit’s due. But to me, AARP is that kid in school (you know the one) who sits in the front row, hair neatly combed, hand waving like he’s flagging down aircraft, with an answer to every question. Eager, diligent. No shame in that game.
But Dave on the Rocks is not that student. Dave on the Rocks is the kid who knows all the answers too, but who’d rather sit in the back row cracking jokes with his buddies, having a laugh, questioning authority, and occasionally being sent to the principal’s office. Frankly, I don’t mind getting into a little mischief – ’cause mama, that’s where the fun is. (Thanks, Bruce…and Manfred.)
Serious topics presented in an unserious way.
Don’t expect a straight-arrow experience at Dave on the Rocks. My content dances on the edge, filled with wit, grit and unapologetic irreverence.
That said, I do aspire to invigorate you with articles on longevity, health, wealth, fitness, wellness, food, drink and anything else that’ll help you crush your golden years.
Some of the categories I hope to include in the coming weeks and months include:
• Global Roaming (Travel, adventures, things like that)
• Whealth (No, that’s not a typo)
• Eat These Pages (Food, drink, restaurants)
• Get off my lawn! (Yep, an opinion page)
• Well, Well, Well (Wellness, fitness, supplements, etc.)
My intention with Dave on the Rocks is to optimize the site every step of the way to keep bringing you relevant content presented in a lively, amusing manner. What’s the point of aging gracefully if you can’t revel in the sheer hilarity of it all, right?
Everybody ages, but not everybody gets old.
As I see it, aging is more than just clocking in the years. Aging is about thriving.
Let’s show the world that life only gets better with time. Let’s show the world that we’re still vital. Let’s show the world we’re still dynamic. And, more importantly, let’s show the world we’re still an essential part of society.
So hop in, buckle up, and pop in that 8-track. The windows are down, the music is up, and the gas tank is full. Let’s see where this road takes us.
