Mushrooms Are Magic
On your next culinary trip, don’t forget the ‘shrooms: Shiitake, Cremini, Portobello, Golden, Lion’s Mane, what have you. Why? Because mushrooms not only bring a depth of toothsome flavor, but a myriad of health benefits to the table, too. “Like what, Dave?” Like, they’re low in calories, devoid of fat, cholesterol, gluten, and they have a puny pinch of sodium. Plus ‘shrooms are packed with micronutrients like riboflavin, niacin, and potassium. But the real magic lies in their health-boosting compounds including beta-glucans that bolster the immune system and heart health, and ergothioneine, a potent antioxidant. In reality, mushrooms aren’t only magically delicious, they’re deliciously nutritious. BTW, in writing this, I intentionally steered away from any “fungi/fun guy“ puns. You’re welcome.
