Oh yeah, now I remember…A new study found that people who use marijuana frequently could suffer from impaired working memory, the short-term memory used for daily tasks. A new study published in JAMANetworkOpen indicated that “heavy lifetime cannabis use was associated with lower brain activation during a working memory task.” (That’s the stuff that helps you remember your grocery list or not swerve into another lane on the freeway.) Another JAMA study found that middle-aged people who smoked marijuana daily for five years or longer performed worse on word memory tests than those who didn’t smoke. Oh, and before I forget, another JAMA study found that middle-aged people who smoked marijuana daily for five years or longer performed worse on word memory tests than those who didn’t smoke.
